Tell us a little about yourself
My name is Sarah Whitmore. I am a mom of a wonderful little boy.

Describe your first CrossFit experience?
I will never forget this. I did Kelly with my husband at golds gym. It took me three times as long to finish it then it did my husband. I laid on the ground for 30 minutes in the fetal position after that workout.

What made you come back?
The next day I did come back for more because at that point I was 22 and during the workout I actually thought I was going to die. I decided that there was no reason for me to be so deconditioned, weak and unhealthy- and from that day forward I have been striving to be stronger and healthier each day.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I have been doing CrossFit for almost 4 years now.

What is your favorite signature crossfit workout?
Diane! 21-15-9 deadlifts and handstand pushups. Because If you know me at all, you know I LOVE deadlifts!

What do you enjoy most when coaching?
My favorite thing is seeing people achieve movements that they didn’t think they could do. The first pullup, double under, pushup etc. there is just no bigger smile then the ” i cant believe i just did that smile”. Seeing athletes push through that “pain zone” and finish workouts hard is also another favorite!

What’s your favorite non-healthy treat?
Just one? Wings and beer is probably up there at number one.

If someone asked you “What is CrossFit?” how would you explain it to them?
I would say that CrossFit is a fitness program that uses various methods to achieve well rounded and functional fitness. We try to do it all, and we try to do it all fast and well.

In your own words, describe Rocktown Crossfit:
Rocktown is one of a kind. There are crossfit gyms and other types of gyms everywhere. But the thing that makes Rocktown different is the people. It starts at the top: the owners- Lauren and Nate pour everything they have into Rocktown, continuously trying to improve anything they can. The athletes and the coaches are unbelievable. You will hear a lot of gyms say ” we are a family” but when you walk into the rock, everyone is going to say hey and make you feel welcomed. We don’t just say we are family, we act like it!

Anything else? 3…2…1…
I am just so grateful to be a part of the rock. The best parts of my days are there. I want to thank the family of Rocktown, the owners and coaches for making me fall in love with CrossFit again, and being so awesome! Love you guys!
