October 2013 Athlete of the Month: Rebecca Royer

October 2013: The OG

She’s been with us since day 1…September 2011

beck2Meet Rebecca!

Tell us about yourself (name, age, education, family, work, etc.)

My name is Rebecca Royer. I am 33 years old and from Pottstown, PA. I graduated from JMU in 2002 with a Finance Degree and somehow have never left the ‘Burg! I am an accountant and work for Maxine Z Magri CPA PLC for the last twelve years. I live in Harrisonburg with my boyfriend, Aaron, and our cockapoo, Bella 🙂

How long have you been doing crossfit?

I have been cross fitting since day one, January 14 and have loved it ever since!

When/what was your “crossfit moment” or have you had one? (the one where you think you may actually die)

Hotshots 19. Hands down. This workout kicked my butt and I didn’t finish all 6 rounds. Still bugs me to this day and I look forward to doing it next year 🙂

What are your favorite crossfit movements?

Shoulder-OH, Cleans, wall balls, double unders, and rowing!

What movement makes you look at the white board and want to walk back out the door?

Thrusters. Nothing else needs to be said.

 What are your goals?

I have many goals, but my main ones at the present are doing pullups without a band and a rope climb

What motivates you to continue coming back?

The continuing amount of improvement I have seen in myself. It’s amazing what the body can do and I love continuing to challenge myself. I never thought I’d be where I am at today when I first started in January.

What’s your favorite cheat meal?

DQ Blizzards. I could eat sweets all day. And pizza. I’ll stop with those two 🙂

In your own words what is Rocktown Crossfit?

Rocktown Crossfit is my home and 2nd family. Every night I am like a kid waiting for the workout to be posted and I can’t relax until I see it. I love my fellow 5:45 workout buddies. And I love being able to go to another class and still feel right at home. The people at the Rock are amazing and so much fun. It’s great coming to a place where you feel like ‘you fit” and can be yourself.

Rocktown is amazing. The coaches are great. The athletes are great. The facilities are great. I love starting my mornings at the Rock! I’m proud to be a member of the Rock and so happy to see it’s continued success. I hope more and more athletes find their home here too! Even though, I am on the quiet side, I can’t say THANK YOU enough!! 🙂

A note from the Rocktown Staff:

Beckdiddy!  We’ve come a long ways from the days of crossfit at golds gym…double unders in the mirror with your purple rope, Burpees and Abmat situps on the track, and mile runs to finish the workouts on the treadmill.  You’ve been through thick and thin with us and we are forever grateful that you believed in us and continued to stick with it.  While Becca may not be the most outspoken in class, believe that when the clock starts she is going to put in 100% until she is finished.  She is one of the hardest workers I know in and out of the gym.  Its been a great feeling to see her conquer so many of her goals and I know pullups are just around the corner.  Her influence on those outside of the gym has not gone unnoticed either.  Her boyfriend Aaron has recently become a member at The Rock and seeing him grow and embrace the change is a clear reflection of the relationship him and Becca have.  Thank you for everything you do for us, your hard work is paying off.  Congratulations….now lets get SOUPY!
