September 2015: The Destroyer

No weight too heavy, no workout too hard…Ricardo answers the bell.

ricoMeet Ricardo!

Tell us about yourself (name, age, education, family, work,

My name is Ricardo Raymond, better known
by most as “Rico,” I am a recognized Kia Elite Sales
Consultant with Steven KIA.  Before joining the sales force
at Steven  Toyota, I serviced in the US Navy where I was stationed in
Sugar Grove WV.  I originate from Panama and have made the
Shenandoah Valley my home since 1992.

I attended the Department Of Defense
schools growing up and a large part of the curriculum was
Spanish, which I speak very fluently. I speak many different dialects and
this has allowed me to have a very successful sales career.

I value hard work and have always enjoyed  working out.  CrossFit has bought a
level of enjoyment to my life that I am glad to say I am a  part of. Everyday
there is a different challenge that keeps me coming back for  more and more!

In my spare time, I enjoy hanging with  family, love the challenge of crossfit, wrestling matches
with Chloe the Chihuahua and watching sports.

The fact that when I arrived in the mornings for my early workout, before 6am, I have not looked at the site to see what the workout is and yet my older ass can do the entire workout.

Thin crust pizza

In your own words what is Rocktown Crossfit?
Rocktown Crossfit is my Cheers and my family away from home!
Its a place I can go where everybody knows my name and encourages me
to always do my best.  There are days when the finish seems far away however there is
always someone pulling for you to complete the task and to
cheer you along.  The support I feel when I am there is a
feeling I find difficult to describe in words, the one word
that does come to mind is:  Family!

Free Write: (anything you want to say about
trainers/facilities/other athletes/etc)
The coaches at Rocktown are the best! They have challenged me since day one
especially when I am late. The family atomsphere is second to none and the facility is just right.

A Note from the Rocktown Staff:

There are few guarantees in life…live, die, pay taxes, and seeing Ricardo Raymond at 5:45am at Rocktown CrossFit.  Ricardo aka Rico has been coming in early since we opened our doors and his progress is second to none.  If you are familiar with Ricardo, it does not take long to realize he is strong…as Andrew Brown has mentioned before his arms are bigger than Andrews legs!  But his strength isn’t what made him athlete of the month.  Ricardo’s dedication to living a fit healthy life and picking up those around him has been a joy to watch.  Some of my favorite moments have been sharing a squat rack with Ricardo and as the weight gets heavy he starts speaking spanish…I never know what he’s saying but I know that means its getting heavy!  It was also awesome to watch him and Dwight at the SuperFit ECC last February…a testament of his progress in all areas of fitness, not just those that included a barbell.  One other thing I can tell you about Ricardo is his passion for his family…he’s often mentioning his trips to visit those he is close to and how much he cares for his family and those around him.  Ricardo…thank you for making The Rock your home and being such a great ambassador…we love having you and mornings would not be the same without you!  Congratulations!
